An integral part of the computerisation of
the educational system in Israel is the introduction of ICT into the
schools of the Arab sector. More than 300 of the 550 schools of the
sector are include following the formula of a computer for 10
students. In the last two year much has been done to connect the
schools to the Internet. Here we bring some of the Internet services
that have been developed in the Arab language offering a rich variety
of activities and resources.

includes several learning communities, three of them by the Arab

Ibn Haldum Database

This
is the computerised database which includes the learning resources
available at the Pedagogical Center of the Academic Institute for
Teachers Training at the Beit Berl College. This is the first database
in the Arab language that is completely accessible through the
Internet. The database enables students and teachers to search the
most adequate learning materials they need, easily efficiently and
quickly. The database included bibliographical and pedagogical
information; thre retrieved materials can be downloaded and printed.

AMWAJ Site

The
purpose of this site is to offer Arab students information about
customs and holidays. It is similar to the Galim site in Snunit but is
completely written in Arabic and adapted, fully, to the Arab
population.

site was established by Snunit, The Jerusalem Foundation, The
Computers Administration in the Jerusalem Education Administration and
the TUR schools for boys and girls in Jerusalem.

World of Cultures site was developed for grades 5-6th
and it express the multi culturalism in the Israeli society, like:
Druzes, Arabs, Secular people, Religious etc. And different kinds of
settlements, like: Kibbutz, Moshav, Cities, Development Towns etc. In
the course of the project the students research the styles of life,
customs, social and cultural norms characteristic of different
populations in Israel.
