The Galim site is aimed at providing
an holistic virtual learning environment for young children. It provides opportunities for
experiential learning for a generation well versed in using computer games. It integrates
knowledge acquisition, pleasure and communication in addition to the development of
computer use skills. These goals are coherent to the objectives of the Division for
Primary Schools of the Ministry of Education that regards the use of the computer as a
basic school that should be developed in the primary school like reading, writing and
arithmetic. The experiences provided in the site are based in the curriculum and enrich it
with additional activities.
The student can learn the contents through the "An exploration through the
waves (galim)"; to learn a given subject matter under the guidance of a teacher; to
exchange correspondence in a discussion group of peers at his own classroom or at other
schools; send questions to specialists; or to surf with his parents in an activity or
guided tour which summarizes the learning process. |
