A Step from Math: Mathematics in Early Childhood Education

Math is Next Chat Room

Math is Next Forum

A Step to Math is a project in the Beit Berl Teachers'  College developing a database for kindergarten teachers and those being trained as teachers in early childhood education. The database includes a large number of activities for the development of mathematical thinking at early childhood.

The activities in the database enable the child to experience the world around him  through the multimplicity of his senses, to define it, categorize and identify relationships which integrates the mathematical language.

The two dimensions for the classification of the activities include   academic skills (mathematical concepts and thinking) and on the other the cognitive process through which we process the information (visual, aural and kinetic senses). Every "cell" includes the activities appropriate to the unique conjuction that characterizes that cell.

The activity cards include a description of the activity and additional information need to work with the children (goals, level of the activity, helping devices, number of participants, pre-requisites, vocabulary).

The project team will be delighted, during Netdays Europe, to answer questions and discuss with colleagues and the general public, the best was for Mathematical education at early childhood.
