| Many dilemmas, which troubled the
Jewish and Zionist world at the eve of the first Zionist Congress are still relevant
nowadays. The main goals include encouraging critical thinking on how to
cope with conflicts on different levels: personal, ideological and practical;
clarification the complexity of belief in an idea; confront issues that trouble the
Zionist movement since its foundation; strenghten the connection of the participanst to
the Jewish world; knowing the ideological trends active at the beginning of the Zionist
Movement.
Among the contents dealed in the simulations are the controversy about the
location of the Jewish homeland; the controversy about the cultural identity of the future
state; the question regarding the acceptance of the Diaspora; the issue of the
international recognition of the Jewish state.
The participants of this CMC Simulation assume the roles of the leaders of the
main ideological trends in the Zionist movement and to a large extent the Jewish people in
general.
The simulation game is carried out through e-mail conferencing. A news bulletin
released by the game coordinator is the occasion for group discussions and the elaboration
of appropriate reactions.
Each one of the participating classes assume the role of one of the political
groups involved in the process. The class is splited so that students may represent
different personalities or roles (like journalists).
Class discussions are leaded by the teacher which carry them in a plenary or
small groups and have a general vote on the preferred response. |
