CMC Learning for Hospitalized Children

Children hospitalized at the Soroka Medical center has access to an enrichment program of studies and distance learning using network facilities and video cameras.

The tutors and instructors are students and teachers from the David Yellin Teachers' College in Jerusalem (Kav-Or Program) .

The Eshel Hanessi Regional School provides to his students hospitalized in the Center continuing access to their regular studies using vide conference facilities and an interphone.

In the framework of this hospital school the children learn to use computer supported facilities for drawing and graphics production - thus being provided with additional tools for emotional expression.

An additional project bein carried out in the framework of the school is the preparation for surgical interventions. The children go through a detailed preparation process including the learning of the different stages, the medical tests and examinations they will undergo in the department until going back home. The structurization thus obtained helps in coping with the anxiety derived from the uncertainty and diminishes the felt anxiety.
